Seventeen Days of Holidays

It's the last Sunday afternoon of my holiday break, and I had a bloody good time. The big event was my trip away to Northstar at Lake Tahoe for a few days of snowboarding with Scott and Amanda. It was the best snowboarding of my life, with two feet of snow falling while we were there, and my body actually standing up to four consecutive days of boarding. We did a bunch of tree running, which I've never really had the skill to do before, and it's really really fun. I did plough into one tree quite hard, but both the tree and I seemed relatively fine after the experience, although my left calf was bruised and covered in pine sap. I didn't get many photos as my camera wasn't handling the cold very well at all, but Scott took a few so hopefully I'll put them together into a gallery sometime real soon.

In the evenings, we sprawled in front of the fire in the chalet, or hit the wild nightspots of downtown Truckee. Large amounts of traditional American junk food was consumed, which was fine considering the enormous amounts of energy we'd burnt up during the day. I'd very much like to be able to eat heartily and without guilt every day because of all the serious, regular exercise I'd be getting... so maybe that's my first resolution for 2006. Exercise enough that I can occasionally eat Dairy Queen without hating myself.

Tomorrow is Monday, which means I'm back at work in the snake pit. My last day of employment is March the 10th, and I'm planning a round-the-world ticket for somewhere in early April. This will leave time for packing up, selling stuff, and perhaps one more trip to Utah for more snowboarding. I'll admit I'm getting quite decent at it, although I can't ride switch for more than ten feet without falling flat on my face, and I'm yet to land a decent jump in the terrain park. It's been one of the best holiday breaks I've had ever, and I feel pretty good. Party on Wayne.
