Vancouver Interlude

Because of flight deals and connections, it was easier to bounce back to Vancouver from London, and then begin my voyage home through Japan and Thailand from there. I've had a few final days to wander around Vancouver, say a few last goodbyes and collect my large snowboard bag full of top-grade BC weed for the trip home. Weight limits are far higher when travelling through Asia and the States, but I'm still a little worried that when I'm standing at the check-in counter, I might have to make a few last minute subtractions to get it under the weight limit.

Vancouver really turned it on for my time here, with three beautiful spring days full of blazing sunshine, with just enough coolness in the shade and breezes to be supremely comfortable. I also managed to catch up with my Australian buddy Lachlan, who has moved here to do the one year working holiday visa dance with his girlfriend, Helena. We spent quite a while mulling over the little (and big) differences between Van and Bris Vegas, and it was amusing to hear him speak almost exactly the same words as I did when I arrived, such as "Why do they play classic 1978 hockey during the bloody FA cup final?!"

Next on the travel list is Japan. I fly out today 1pm, and through the voodoo of the international date line, I arrive in Tokyo at 2:30pm. The flight is around ten hours though, so it probably won't be much fun. I then have to check my huge snowboard bag into a locker at Tokyo Narita, catch a Shinkansen to Osaka-Shin, and then follow Becky T's wise and detailed instructions to her place in Osaka before I can collapse into a giant plate of sushi for the night. Wish me luck.
