Windows Safari

Goodness me - it looks like Apple have launched a public beta of their web browser, Safari 3. This alone isn't really very interesting, except for the fact that this beta is also available on Windows too. Extending Safari to Windows land is a logical move, although you'd expect everyone who has already dumped IE is running Firefox, and is unlikely to drop it for another alternate browser.

Apple are touting Safari's excellent speed as the main reason Windows users should switch, but I'm not sure how much reality distortion field power has been injected into their "2x faster than IE7" claim. I do know that since v2.0, Safari has been a reasonably clean, standards-compliant browser, so this new version shouldn't make my web development life too unpleasant. Cross fingers.

Update: it looks like the Safari 3 beta has a few security problems. Security researchers found multiple vulnerabilities in the browser in a matter of hours. Whoopsie.
