London And A Half

I'm about halfway through my time in London, and exactly a month away from landing back in Brisbane. I'm still having a great time, but stuff like the Tube is really starting to get up my nose. I did mean this figuratively, but considering the frequency of the dreaded London black snot phenomenon, it's literal sometimes as well. I've wandered through The British Museum, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly, Leicester Square, The London Aquarium, The Dali Universe, Camden, Westminster, Green Park, Brick Lane, Covent Garden, Orme Court and many others, and I haven't really even been trying. It's what I love about London - there's enough to see and do for a lifetime. It is pretty bloody expensive though.

The best part being here is catching up with friends, though. It's a real delight to trade stories and laughs, visit some of our old haunts, catch up on news, and to reminisce about past escapades and mayhem. I made a couple of good friends in Vancouver, but that just isn't in the same league as the crew I had (and technically still have) here. Living in London all over again doesn't really appeal to me, but if a job came up, I'd have to think hard about it. For at least thirty seconds.

It looks like I'll be spending a few weeks in Brisbane before I head down Sydney way - a friend is heading off on a swanky six-week journey around the world, so I will most likely be on house minding and cat feeding duty. He has a shtonking games PC, so I'll probably be spending quite a bit of time honing my Civilization 4 skills, but the thing I really want to do is dedicate the time to wiping out street crime working on my dodgy lower back. It's going all right at the moment, but I'm being pretty careful and I'm doing my exercises. Being punched by drunken South Africans and then sleeping on a sack of limes in Thailand may not work out so nicely.
