Rain tanks are cool

The ABC has some news that will please my father no end - apparently home rainwater tanks are five times more efficient than desalination or dams, according to a study by Marsden Jacob Associates. My dad has two water tanks that he uses for watering his garden, and wrote letters to his local council to suggest extensions to the subsidy program. He doesn't have a processing system to turn rainwater into drinking water, although the study seems to think it's not that expensive or difficult.
