Not great news for polar bears - it looks like the Arctic is melting significantly faster than predicted by the IPCC, and may have ice-free arctic summers some time around the middle of this century. This isn't good news, particularly when considering the reduction of ice will reduce the planet's terrestrial albedo (reflectivity), causing more of the sun's energy to be absorbed and further increasing temperatures. Break out the sunscreen.
